See some of our current posts up on Facebook!

My mother is a strong and beautiful woman, who has a passion for taking care of those around her. A nurse by trade and calling, she is a strong and healing soul. She raised four strong and independent daughters to do the same - to feel deeply and love fiercely - to be soft and yet powerful - practical and yet spiritual - and know it is ok to let our tears flow as abundantly as our laughter! She also raised us to be amazing bargain hunters. And I know if she lived closer, she would be a HUGE fan of ClosetDash too.

My mom is amazing. She is strong, funny, happy, crazy, and loved by everyone. She has a great taste in music and in food. She makes sure to always laugh at my jokes and have time to do anything I need(want). She is always doing something cool, and never acts a day over 20. She puts up with me and for this I will always be grateful. My mom is a SUPERSTAR and my hero. I hope to be a mother like she was, is, and always will be. I can't tell you enough how lucky I am to have you! I love you Tery Drapel Blatt ! Happy Mothers Day!
-Gabriella Blatt, Your Loving Daughter
If my mom had the Elie Tahari Oversized Tote with Chain Strap from your mothers day collection, it would definitely make her Mother's Day!

My mom is my role model and idol. She truly is a superwoman. With 3 kids and a full time career as a pediatrician, she still always had time to make us dinner and read us bedtime stories. Smart, beautiful and kind she is what I continue to strive to be. I'm lucky and blessed to have such an amazing and special Mom!
-Jennifer Lee, Founder ClosetDash

Happy Mother's Day to all the radical moms of the world! Especially mine who's smart, kind, wise beyond her years, and a shredding snowboarder!
-Ryan Wilhelm, Operations Guru ClosetDash

-Ymani, ClosetDash Intern

Love and kisses! My mother is my rock, the true definition of a role model, I honestly can say I would not be the young lady I am if I did not go home everyday to that woman. You are amazing mom, truly amazing. Happy mother's day!

Recycle Your Clothes With These DIY Tips!

Posted on April 17, 2013 | 0 comments

In honor of Earth Day New York this month, we’re making an effort to find more eco-friendly ways to recycle styles. In addition to swapping, one of our new favorite ways to revamp our wardrobe is by making alterations to clothes already in our closet. Sometimes alterations are so simple that you can do them yourself but some may require going to a seamstress.

Often we only get to wear long gowns once and then there’s no other appropriate occasion to wear them or we’ve already taken too many pictures in them. The worst part about this is how expensive these gowns usually are. Solution? Prom dress turned party dress:

Too many oversized tees? Cut ‘em! They make great tanks, off the shoulder tees, or even work out wear. Check out this one we cut a skull in the back of:

Altering your clothes is an easy way to make something new out of something old. It can give your wardrobe more of a vintage feel while being easy on the environment and your wallet. And you can alter other things besides clothes!

We hope one of these quick and easy DIY projects inspire you to re-fashion your pieces! It's not only great for your wardrobe but it's also great for the Earth!

Happy DIY-ing!

Always seeking travel opportunities, Lauren hopes to expand her career path internationally and immerse herself in foreign culture, fashion, and trends.

Swap Your Clothes and Save the Planet!

Posted on April 10, 2013 | 0 comments

The average Manhattan resident spends $362 on apparel alone each month! Sustaining this fast-fashion industry that we live in is more costly to our environment AND our wallets than most of us even realize.

Did you know...

  • The Fashion Industry is the 2nd largest user of water in the world?
  • It takes about 1,800 gallons of water just to grow enough cotton to make ONE pair of jeans?
  • The Chinese textile industry creates about 3 billion tons of soot each year?
As consumers, it’s up to us to make responsible and educated decisions about the clothing that we buy.

Swapping As An Alternative
One way to be more responsible about your wardrobe is by swapping your clothing, rather than always throwing it away and buying new pieces in replacement. Swapping your clothing finds a new owner for your unwanted clothing, while keeping it out of landfills. It also reduces demand for new clothing, which in turn will reduce demand for textiles.

Swapping also allows for the recycling of trends. If you keep track of trends, you’ve probably noticed that they tend to repeat themselves. It may take a few years, but they almost always come back. (Think leather, leggings, high-waisted pants, leopard print, houndstooth.) Swapping can be a great way to find something a little vintage-y with a current trend.

Sustainable fashion is on the rise and some designers are making efforts to use more sustainable and eco-friendly materials in their clothing. However, the industry still has a long way to go and if we begin to change our buying behavior than we can impact just how quickly the industry will become more sustainable. After all, it is our own environment and hard earned dollars that we’re working to save.

We’ve recently revamped our swapping process, making it even easier for you to swap with us! Check out our how-to here:
